'A world-class company' The Independent

WNO is committed to being a 21st century, world-class opera company and is the first European opera company to create music downloads and video streaming from its own live performances.

Carlo Rizzi, WNO Music Director and conductor of The Flying Dutchman:

'Although there is nothing better than the live experience of opera, these fast expanding technologies enable everyone in the world, very quickly to access what we are doing in our country, in our city and in our Company. I am delighted my personal enthusiasm for this has been shared by all my colleagues within WNO who have helped make this a real first for the Company.  This is also a wonderful way of developing our relationship with Coutts and I am delighted at their interest in helping us promote the downloads.'

WNO’s The Flying Dutchman, opened at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on Friday 17 February 2005. WNO’s The Flying Dutchman is sponsored by Coutts & Co and The Flying Dutchman Syndicate.

WNO presents over 110 main scale opera performances annually, performing to almost 140,000 people in some of the most densely populated urban areas in Britain. WNO MAX takes opera beyond the mainstage –  in schools, community halls and event in tents – commissioning new work and with the aims to bring out the operatic in everyone across range of ages, communities and abilities.
