Beatrice and Benedict can’t resist teasing each other. Is there more to their sparring than meets the eye? Is theirs a match made in heaven? Berlioz’s final opera adapts Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing focussing on the relationship between one of the most famous quarrelsome couples in western art. The result is a delicious comic opera filled with charming music. It is as warm-hearted as a Mediterranean evening. Welsh National Opera’s much-loved Beatrice & Benedict is performed for the first time in a decade and will receive its première performances at Wales Millennium Centre. The cast includes Sara Fulgoni and Donald Maxwell making their eagerly anticipated returns to the company.
