(Garin is 9 years old and his song is about a nosebleed which I asked him to write about in the first session. He’d taken a punch to the nose and Dai Gardner had to mop him up for about 10 minutes before I could talk to him about writing. We discussed how hard it is to breathe in the ring with a nosebleed and between us we came up with this.)
Garin Jones - I'm Hooked
I wriggle away
From the trainer who barks
That blood in the water
Is attractive to sharks
It hurts and it’s painful
But I don’t care – I’m hooked
I’m a gold fish, pink salmon
I gasp in the red stream
Is the thrill of white water
Washing me clean?
Catch, clean and release
I begin swimming strong
When I start to tire
Current sweeps me along
It hurts and it painful
But I don’t care – I’m hooked
I’m a gold fish, pink salmon
I gasp in the red stream
Is the thrill of white water
Washing me clean?
