Katy graduated in Vocal Studies from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in June 2009. She was a finalist in the Young Welsh Musical Theatre Singer of the Year 2009. In February 2009 Katy delighted a sell-out audience at St. David's Hall after she was asked to step in at the last minute for Connie Fisher who was unable to perform.During Summer 2008, Katy played the lead role in Welsh National Youth Opera's production of John Binias and Brian Irvine’s "The Calling of Maisy Day," winning the Seligman Prize for Outstanding Vocal Demonstration for her role. She has appeared as guest vocalist for many choirs including Pontypridd Chorale Society, Noteworthy Mixed Choir, Cor Meibion Maesteg, Blaenau Gwent Chorale, Abertillery Male Voice Choir and Risca Male Voice Choir. Katy was also a guest artist at the Annual Rhondda Fach Community Gala Concert alongside Welsh Musical Theatre star John Owen Johns in May 2009.
Katy has worked with WNO MAX on a number of community projects, including singing with the Carbon 12 Community Choir and performing as part of the live soundtrack for the premiere of "Surf Tailz" at the Grand Pavillion, Porthcawl in Summer 2008. In Autumn 2009 Katy relocated to London to take on the role as cover for Christine and join the ensemble in the West End production of Phantom of the Opera.
