Adrian Thompson trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he is now a professor. Operatic credits include title role Peter GrimesMonostatos Die Zauberflöte, Skuratov From the House Of The Dead and Canio Pagliacci (Frankfurt), Snout A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Teatro alla Scala); Valzacchi Der Rosenkavalier (ROH), Rev Adams Peter Grimes (Geneva), title role The Diary of One Who Disappeared (Aix-en-Provence), Mr Upfold Albert Herring, Triquet Eugene Onegin, School Teacher The Cunning Little Vixen (Glyndebourne), Monostatos The Magic Flute (ENO, Opéra National du Rhin). An experienced recitalist, Adrian has appeared throughout the UK and Europe. His concert repertoire includes Beethoven's Ninth SymphonyVerdi Requiem and Mahler Das Lied von der Erde as well as the Evangelists of Bach’s St John and St Matthew Passions. In the contemporary field Adrian has given many first performances of works by British and European composers. Recent engagements include Goro Madam Butterfly (Scottish Opera), Verdi Requiem at the Barbican, Britten Canticles at the Lied Festival Victoria de Los Angeles in Barcelona and War Requiem at St David’s Hall. Adrian will sing Noctambulist Louise at the Buxton Festival, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for ENO and Eisslinger Die Meistersingervon Nürnberg for Glyndebourne Festival.
