Aidan Smith is a WNO Associate Artist and recipient of the WNO Chris Ball Bursary and is supported by the Sir John Moores Award. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio. Roles include Second Customer/Monk in Jonathan Harvey’s Wagner’s Dream, Leuthold Guillame Tell, Zuniga Carmen; Ben Budge The Beggar’s Opera (Royal Opera House); Dr Grenvil La traviata (Scottish Opera tour); Antonio Le nozze di Figaro (Garsington Festival); Corporal La Fille du regiment, Farmer Boggis Fantastic Mr Fox and Larkens La fanciulla del West (Opera Holland Park); Betto Gianni Schicchi (English Touring Opera/OHP); Drunken Poet The Fairy Queen (ETO); Colline La boheme (Longborough) and Superintendent Budd Albert Herring (Mid Wales Opera). He created the roles of Kevin in The Office The Opera by Anne Chemlewski (BBC) and Jevons Ludd and Isis (ROH Production Park). Concert engagements include Bach’s St Matthew Passion (St Paul’s Covent Garden), Messiah (Mosaique Ensemble in Hamburg), Haydn’s Creation (Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford) and Winterreise (Chichester Festival). He is currently an Associate Artist with Welsh National Opera.
