Ben Baur

Set Designer Nabucco 

Ben Baur was born in 1982 and studied staging and costume design at Berlin Academy of Art and Stage Design (Kunsthochschule Berlin). Since 2007, after working as a staff director at theatres and opera companies in Berlin, Cologne, Amsterdam, as well as for the Bayreuth Festival, Ben has been a freelance designer for opera and drama. He has worked with directors including Anna Bergmann, Patrick Schlösser, Michael von zur Mühlen, Jim Lucassen, Jetske Mijnssen, Bastian Kraft and Jan Philipp Gloger. Ben has designed for the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Deutsche Theater in Berlin; Volkstheater in Munich; the state theatres Saarbrücken and Kassel; theatres in Bochum and Frankfurt; Burgtheater in Vienna; Stuttgart State Opera; Zurich Opera; Semper Opera in Dresden. New projects are planned at the State Opera Hamburg; Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen, as well as at Zurich Opera and Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam. Verdi’s Nabucco is his first production with director Rudolf Frey.
