Caroline Chaney

Revival Director The Magic Flute

Caroline Chaney was born in Manchester. She has worked as a staff director for WNO since 1991, assisting a great number of directors on over 50 different productions. During her time at WNO she has directed La boheme six times, for the national tour and for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She has also directed revivals of Madam Butterfly, Eugene Onegin, Turandot, Carmen, The Magic Flute and two different productions of The Marriage of Figaro. Last year she restaged Manon Lescaut and Nabucco for the Company’s tour to the Savonlinna Opera Festival. In the 1980s she collaborated on movement with director Mike Ashman for Cavalleria rusticana and I pagliacci for Scottish Opera Go Round and Walton’s Facade for the St Donat’s Festival. Her career has also included stage management, puppetry, acting, floor management for the BBC, and company management for WNO and Glyndebourne.
