Spanish light-lyric tenor David Alegret studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música, Barcelona and the Musik-Akademie, Basel, making his debut in L’Italiana in Algeri in Klagenfurt, Paris and with Vienna Staatsoper. Appearances since include Narciso Il Turco in Italia (Bayerische Staatsoper Munich; Hamburgische Staatsoper; Garsington Opera); Count Almaviva Il barbiere di Siviglia (Zurich Opera); Gernando Armida (Garsington Opera); Don Ramiro La Cenerentola (Vienna; Brussels; Rome); Count Libenskof Il viaggio a Reims (Rossini Opera Festival, Pésaro). Besides an extensive Rossini repertoire, he has appeared in the roles of Belmonte Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Ferrando Così fan tutte, Idamante Idomeneo, Ernesto Don Pasquale, Jaquino Fidelio, Martin y Soler’s Il burbero di buon cuore. In 2011, he performed Pergolesi’s Lo frate ‘nnamorato with Fabio Biondi’s Europe Galante ensemble (Pergolesi Spontini Festival, recorded for DVD by Unitel Classica). On the concert stage, he has performed works by Bach, Schubert, Brahms, Mozart, Puccini and Honegger, in venues including the Barcelona Auditorium, Wiener Konzerthaus and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. He has worked alongside London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra; with conductors including Fabio Biondi, Jesus Lopez Cobos, Fabio Luisi, Marc Minkowski, Riccardo Muti, David Parry, Sebastian Weigle and Alberto Zedda.
