During nine seasons as a Principal at the Royal Opera House, Judith Howarth’s roles included Musetta La bohème, Liù Turandot, Gilda Rigoletto, Norina Don Pasquale and Marguérite Les Huguenots. Subsequent engagements include Musetta La bohème (Cincinnati); Ellen Orford Peter Grimes (Toulouse; Oviedo; Santiago de Chile); Christine Intermezzo and Aithra Die ägyptische Helena (Santa Fe); all four soprano roles Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Florida Grand Opera); Violetta La traviata, Marguerite Faust and title role Maria Stuarda (Minnesota Opera); Violetta La traviata (Finnish National Opera). Her discography includes Troilus and Cressida, conducted by Richard Hickox, winner of Gramophone’s Opera of the Year, Il segreto di Susanna (Oviedo Filarmonia under Friedrich Haider) and title role in Mercadante’s Maria Stuarda, Regina di Scozia (Opera Rara). Recent engagements include Elisabetta Don Carlo (Finnish National Opera); further performances of Madam Butterfly (WNO) and Mathilde Guillaume Tell (Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Festival).
