Kevin Short received his training at Morgan State University, Curtis Institute 
of Music, and the Juilliard School of Music Opera Center. He was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, International Competition for Verdian Voices, Rosa Ponselle International Vocal Competition, Bruce Yarnell Competition for Basses and Baritones, Opera America Competition, Leiderkranz Competition, and received awards and grants from the Sullivan Foundation, the Shoshana Foundation and Opera Index. Recent engagements include Don Fernando Fidelio (Seattle Opera); Porgy Porgy and Bess (Napoli; Luxembourg; Las Palmas); title role Der fliegende Holländer, Nick Shadow
