Kostas Smoriginas studied at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, representing his country at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, 2005. He studied at the Royal College of Music before joining the Jette Parker young artist programme at the Royal Opera House. Roles include Escamillo (Berlin Staatsoper; Beijing’s National Centre for Performing Arts; Semperoper Dresden; ROH; Sante Fe); Figaro (San Francisco Opera); Colline La bohème (ROH); Masetto Don Giovanni (Teatro alla Scala; Aix-en-Provence Festival); Leporello Don Giovanni (Opéra National de Bordeaux); Salzburg Easter Festival’s Carmen with the Berlin Philharmonic under Simon Rattle, recorded for EMI; title role Don Giovanni (Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Chile; Toulouse); title role Eugene Onegin, Guglielmo Così fan tutte, Count Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Vilnius City Opera). His repertoire includes Verdi, Mozart and Faure’s Requiems, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Janáček’s Gagolitic Mass, Dvořák’s Te Deum and Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater. He made his BBC Proms debut in Stravinsky’s Les Noces (Royal Albert Hall). Current and future engagements include Te Deum with the Orchestre de Paris; The Bells with the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Aleko with La Monnaie; Leporello in Santa Fe; Prosdocimo Il Turco in Italia in Toulouse.
