Leonardo Capalbo trained at Julliard School of Music, Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara and L’Academie Musicale de Villecroze in France. He made his operatic debut in 2004 as Paco in de Falla’s La Vida Breve (Opera North). He has performed at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Berlin State Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Semperoper Dresden, Köln Opera, Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, Oper Leipzig, Opéra de Bordeaux, Stuttgart Opera, Opéra de Nice, L’Opéra de Montreal, Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, Miami Opera, New York City Opera, Israeli Opera, Opera North, Opera Holland Park and at Glyndebourne and Spoleto Festivals. Recent engagements include Nemorino L’elisir d’amore (Glyndebourne); Macduff Macbeth (Lyric Opera Chicago); La traviata (L’Opéra de Genève; WNO; Dresden); Rigoletto (Leipzig); Nerone Poppea e Nerone (Montpellier); title role Postino (Teatro Real, Madrid debut). Other engagements this season include Rigoletto (Leipzig); Nabucco (Geneva); his first Tom Rakewell The Rake’s Progress (Teatro Regio, Turin). Other roles in his developing repertoire include Des Grieux Manon, title role in Gounod’s Faust and Rodolfo Luisa Miller.
