Madeleine trained in Theatre Design at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, graduating in 2001. Recent set and costume designs include The Turn of the Screw (Israeli Opera); Così fan tutte (Opera Touring Company, Dublin); Don Giovanni and The Turn of the Screw (Opera North); Amadis di Gaule (Central City Opera Festival, Colorado); Le Docteur Miracle and Djamileh – a Bizet double bill (Royal College of Music, London); La traviata (Cape Town Opera); Turandot (Theatre Augsburg’s Open Air Arena, Germany); Six Characters in Search of an Author (play) and The Siege of Calais (Guildhall School of Music and Drama); La Cenerentola (Malmö Opera, Sweden); Pelléas et Mélisande (Independent Opera at Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler’s Wells).

Upcoming productions include, costume design for The Voyage of Edgar Allen Poe (Staatstheater Braunschweig, Germany), November 2013; set and costume design for Le nozze di Figaro (Central City Opera, Colorado); set and costume design for La traviata (Opera North); set design for the opera Oresteia at Bard Summerscape Festival, New York.
