Mark Le Brocq

Smee Peter Pan

An English graduate and choral scholar of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, Mark Le Brocq studied at the Royal Academy of Music and National Opera Studio. A former company principal with English National Opera, roles there included Tamino/Monostatos The Magic Flute, Paris King Priam, Count Almaviva The Barber of Seville, Narraboth Salome, Cassio Otello, Doctor Maxwell The Silver Tassie. Engagements elsewhere include title role Idomeneo (Opera Northern Ireland); Belmonte Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail (Garsington); title role Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Chicago Opera Theater); title role Mitridate (Classical Opera Company); premiere of Kate Pearson’s The Pied Piper, Weinberg’s The Portrait, Shapkin From the House of the Dead (Opera North); Seven Deadly Sins (Royal Ballet). Previously for Welsh National Opera: the Painter/Client in Lulu, Le Medicin The Fall of the House of Usher, and stepping in at the last minute as Aron Moses und Aron. Recent and future engagements include Loge Das Rheingold for Longborough Festival, Bob Boles Peter Grimes for Opera North, Sir Philip Wingrave Owen Wingrave for Opera National de Lorraine and the Steersman Der fliegende Hollander (Opera North). In concert he sings Carmina Burana at Saffron Hall and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis (Three Choirs Festival).
