Hailing from Dolgellau, Sian Meinir graduated with BA Hons from the University of Wales, Bangor and subsequently from the Royal Academy of Music, gaining a postgraduate Dip RAM and LRAM. Sian has sung professionally since 1993, making her debut with roles for The Opera Factory and Batignano Opera Festival Italy, before joining the Chorus of the Royal Opera House, where she sang the roles of Page Salome and Bridesmaid Le nozze di Figaro. In 2003 she joined WNO where roles include Margaret Wozzeck, Annina La traviata, Inez Il trovatore, Giovanna Rigoletto, Kate Pinkerton Madam Butterfly, Rychtárka Jenu˚fa. Recent concert work includes Schumann Lieder at Bangor Cathedral and Wesendonck Lieder at Southwark Cathedral. Sian performs regularly with the PEDW4R and CANTOrama! vocal ensembles, and has extensive oratorio experience, with highlights including: Bach's B Minor Mass (Queen Elizabeth Hall and St David’s Hall), Elgar’s The Kingdom with the Monterverdi Singers, and Elijah with Bryn Terfel and the late Richard Hickox at the National Eisteddfod. Awards include London Welsh Singer, Blue Riband, Susan Chilcott Award, and she was subsequently made a Royal Philharmonic Young Artist. Sian is honoured to be a National Eisteddofd Adjudicator and is a busy vocal tutor.
