Alastair Miles was born in Harrow and studied flute at Guildhall School of Music. Recent roles include Narbal Les Troyens (Netherlands Opera); Creonte Medea in Corinto (Bayerische Staatsoper); Zaccaria Nabucco (Wiener Staatsoper); Pogner Die Meistersinger (Glyndebourne; Netherlands Opera); Poliferno Niobe, Regina di Tebe (Royal Opera House); Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment with Bernard Labadie); Duke Alfonso Lucrezia Borgia (English National Opera); Claudio Agrippina (Opera de Dijon; Opera de Lille with Emmanuelle Haim); Daland Der fliegende Hollander (Opera Royal de Wallonie, Liege); Philip II Don Carlo (Deutsche Oper Berlin). On the concert platform recent highlights include Schumann Faustszenen with Nikolaus Harnoncourt (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; Munich Radio Orchestra); Handel’s Messiah (New York Philharmonic); Sarastro Die Zauberflöte with Daniel Harding (Lucerne Festival); St Matthew Passion (Dallas Symphony Orchestra). Future engagements include Comte des Grieux Manon (Royal Opera House); Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor (Metropolitan Opera; Netherlands Opera); Leporello Don Giovanni (De Vlaamse Opera) and Arkel Pelleas et Melisande (Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich).
