Beethoven Piano Concerto No4
Debussy Prélude à l’apres-midi d’un faune
Bartók Suite from Miraculous Mandarin
Four classics explore the themes of desire, temptation and threat. Bartók's ballet seethes with visceral energy whist Debussy's Prélude à l'apres-midi d'un faune evokes the heavy golden shimmering heat of afternoon. Dvořák's symphonic poem is permeated by an almost cinematic icy horror whilst the slow movement of Beethoven's Concerto was inspired by the legend of Orpheus and the furies.
