WNO Singing Club are a group of 50 children, aged between 10 to 14 who meet every Saturday morning during term time to learn singing techniques, drama skills, good rehearsal etiquette and also to have fun!
We consider ourselves to be a young opera group as opposed to a choir and have performed in various concerts and performances over the last seven years. Concert performances have included the Senedd Christmas concert (as guest singers in 2010), numerous appearances on the Glanfa stage at Wales Millennium Centre, St. Germans Church for the annual WNO Max Carol Service, St. David’s Hall and the Weston Studio (recently performing the children’s opera The Black Spider in 2010).
Our children are also involved in the main-scale Operas with WNO, including Carmen, Turandot and the up and coming tour of La boheme.
Singing Club members do not have to audition to become part of WNO Singing Club, children simply come along to a taster session on the first Saturday of the September and January terms.
If you are aged between 10-14 and would like to get involved, please email Julia Gay (WNO Singing Club Project Manager), julia.gay@wno.org.uk.
