Wrexham Street Songs

Wrexham Street Songs is a three year programme of community and education work delivered across the county by Welsh National Opera. Each year will focus on different elements of opera, with opportunities to get involved in writing workshops, community choirs, music composition, masterclasses with orchestra players, view professional performances, learn song writing, gain insights backstage, make props and more!

Year One starts Sept 2011 with a nine month Writer's residency at Wrexham Museum and an interactive exhibition for WNO and Opera. Monthly writing workshops for schools, community groups and local businesses will be held at the museum and in the community.

Each month WNO will also be creating and performing "Nine Stories High" - a live 5 min Soap Opera for Wrexham, created out of the writing workshops and performed in real environments all over Wrexham town centre. Each episode will be filmed and screened via the internet allowing the community to interact with the characters and storyline.

The final omnibus performance of Nine Stories High will take place on Saturday 19 May from 1pm onwards, as a promenade around different locations in Wrexham.
