The Changeling is a creature created by the character Alex as s/he decides whether to make the transition to secondary school - The Academy of Alterations.  Alex sends the Changeling ahead to the Academy where, after a series of adventures, it arrives to face the new rules, regulations and confusing life of this very different place. The Changeling reports back to Alex who must then make the decision whether to face up to the new challenge of the Academy.

The Changeling's quest is explored through song, music and drama with children, brass trio, composer and movement director.

In 2004, The Changeling came to life during residencies at St Patrick's Primary School in Cardiff and Shake and Shout 2004.  The project was revived in the autumn of 2005 in Edinburgh.
