Through Listening Eyes, An intimate witness to creativity.
During 2004, Welsh National Opera commissioned the creation of a very special film, Through Listening Eyes. It is a beautiful film which represents the creativity of children and adults from special schools in and around Cardiff, focusing on touch therapy dance techniques developed by Dilys Price from Touch Trust, art work by Richard Aylwin, and Owen Webb's intimate singing.
The film is a collaboration between resident companies in Wales Millennium Centre and special schools and centres associated with Touch Trust. Through Listening Eyes was created in response to Wise Eye; a chamber opera written by Richard Chew for use in workshops with children with learning difficulties.
The film was made by Richard Aylwin, with words and music by Richard Chew. The collaborating companies on the project were Touch Trust, Hijinx Theatre, Diversions Dance, Urdd Gobaith Cymru and Academi.
The 25 minute film received its World Premiere on the 27th November 2004, as part of the Wales Millennium Centre opening celebrations, and is available as a DVD. For further information please contact WNO MAX department on 029 2063 5060.
