BELSHAZZAR'S FEAST
Music William Walton

Chorus Master Tim Rhys-Evans
An exciting opportunity for 120 community singers to sing with the WNO Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Carlo Rizzi.
Belshazzar's Feast by William Walton is a dramatic and imposing piece of choral music embodying a vast array of different musical sources - from hymns to jazz and brass bands. Punctuated by Walton's characteristic pauses and silences, it is a tense and haunting experience. Adapted from the Book of Daniel the piece tells the story of the exiled Jews in Babylon.
Belshazzar's Feast will be performed in the Donald Gordon Theatre in Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday 26 May and Sunday 3 June 2007 and Birmingham Hippodrome on Saturday 23 June 2007, as part of a double bill with Four Sacred Pieces by Verdi sung by the WNO Chorus.
