Another Life

Another Life is WNO's current Orchestral Concert for primary schools. We invited writer Michael Symmons Roberts, composer Karen Wimhurst and artist Richard Aylwin to collaborate to create a magical story of a brother and sister and their journey through a computer game driven by music.

The concert is touring to Withywood Community School in Bristol, The Stables in Milton Keynes and Plymouth Pavilions in association with Plymouth Theatre Royal. In each city pupils will take part in a participatory workshops introducing them to the themes of the concert and the building blocks of opera, and then attend the concert, where they will sing with the orchestra of WNO.

The repertoire includes 'Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune' by Debussy and Malcolm Arnold's A Grand Grand Festival Overture, which will also include an A-Level Percussion group from each city playing the hoovers and floorpolisher. The repertoire pieces are woven together with music by Karen Wimhurst.
