WNO MAX - Pre-Performance Talks

Operas are complex, collaborative works, with composers, librettists, conductors, directors, designers, singers and instrumentalists (not to mention the back-stage crew) all working flat out to produce an evening of drama in music. In his 30-minute pre-performance talks, Simon Rees, WNO's Dramaturg, attempts to unscramble these tangled relationships. Half an hour is just long enough to give a brief summary of the opera's plot, along with an account of the many different elements that go into this collaboration, some back-stage gossip and a few singer anecdotes. Simon Rees now gives talks for some of the shows in all of the venues: look out for the dates and times, and please come along – you'll be made very welcome.

All the talks are free to attend and are so popular that some are now ticketed. Speak to the box office for details and please arrive early to avoid disappointment!
