Meistermole was backstage at the opening of Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on the weekend.

His live tweets were projected onto the wall of the Centre for everyone to see, and some joined in with their own messages.

Meistermole captured the mood backstage and the anticipation for the performance:

"Just two hours to go! Guardian says 'Terfel one of the truly great Wagner singers, Wagnerians have hardly been able to wait.'"

"In her dressing room Amanda Roocroft does the finishing touches to her make-up"

"The foyer is full of chat. But if you stand out the back by the bicycle rack you can hear the principals warming up"

Once the performance started Meistermole shared his thoughts:

"Someone in the interval said, it gets even better. They weren't kidding."

"It's got it all. Act 2 opens with bryn kicking a football (if england were as accurate) and closes with massive pyjama fight."
