Advice for patrons attending Die Meistersinger on 26 June

Saturday 26 June will be an exceptionally busy day in Cardiff. In addition to our performance there will be a number of high profile events taking place in the capital which we expect will draw large crowds. These events include Paul McCartney’s concert at the Millennium Stadium and festivities marking Armed Forces Day in Cardiff Bay. Consequently there will be possible serious delays to journey times and there is likely to be high demand for parking spaces.

We would advise you to allow plenty of time to make your journey to the performance and if travelling by car, to find a parking space. In addition we would advise you to arrive in the Bay as early as possible in the afternoon and would suggest you do this by no later than 3pm.

In addition to the normal car parking facilities in the Bay, Welsh Assembly Government have very kindly agreed to open the Queensgate Car Park near to the Butetown Link Interchange roundabout / off Tyneside Road exclusively for Welsh National Opera audience members. We understand there are in the region of 500 spaces and parking will be on a first served basis.

We have also arranged a shuttle bus service, which we hope to run between the car park and Wales Millennium Centre from 2pm until 3.15pm and returning from 10pm to 11pm. The car park is also a ten minute walk from Wales Millennium Centre.

You will need your opera ticket to gain entry into the car park and onto the bus. Please click here to see the map for details of the exact location of the 26 June car park. It is marked 26 June Car Park.

Please note that for the performance on 26 June we are requesting that all audience members are seated by 3.45pm
