The inaugural Opera Awards took place this year on 22 April, and Welsh National Opera played a large part in the celebrations. We would like to congratulate all our winners includng Daniele Rustioni for winning his category of Best newcomer (condusctor or director), Antony McDonald for Best Set Designer, Sophie Bevan for Best Young Singer, and Buki Shiff for Best Costume Designer.
Daniele Rustioni will be conducting Anna Bolena and Roberto Devereux in our Tudors season this Autumn, whilst Antony McDonald is the director and diseginer for our forthcoming production Wagner's Lohengrin this summer. Winner of Young Singer, Sophie Bevan, sung the title role of Vixen in our recent production of The Cunning Little Vixen in our Free Spirits Season this spring. Buki Shiff worked with us on our production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in our summer season 2010.
