Born in Southport, Terence studied at Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, Royal Scottish Academy, and with Carlo Bergonzi in Italy. He won first prize in Rennes International Singing Competition. His debut was in title role Faust for Rennes Opera.
Roles include Le Postillon de Lonjumeau (Lonjumeau), Hoffmann (Monte Carlo and Geneva), First Armoured Man / Second Priest Zauberflote (Le Capitole, Toulouse), Pinkerton (Lille), Samson (Le Chatelet, La Madeleine, with L'Orchestre de Paris), Canio (Antwerp and Gent). He has sung with Scottish Opera (Samson and Peter Grimes), E.N.O (Werther, Manrico, Rudolfo and Pinkerton), Opera North (Don Carlos and Don Jose). Other roles include Cavaradossi (Opera on a Shoestring), Calaf (English Festival Opera), title role Poliuto & Pery in Guarany at Queen Elizabeth Hall (Chelsea Opera), Siegfried at Linbury Theatre, Covent Garden (Wagner Society).
His concert repertoire includes Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, Britten's Serenade for Tenor and Horn, Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Cavanna's Messe d'un Jour Ordinaire, which he premièred in Paris. He has also worked in film and radio in France and UK, including Les Films d'Ici in Paris, Radio Picardie and Radio 3.
