James studied opera at Royal Academy of Music and National Opera Studio. Since graduating he has sung in the choruses of Royal Opera, Glyndebourne and Savoy Opera. Principal roles with British Youth Opera include Bartolo Le nozze di Figaro, Badger / Priest The Cunning Little Vixen and Don Alfonso Così fan tutte and with Opera East Productions, roles of Frère Phillippe The Wandering Scholar and Leporello Don Giovanni. James joined WNO's Chorus in January 2006 . His ongoing studies are generously supported by Chris Ball.
