Amanda Roocroft graduated from RNCM and was recently appointed professor of vocal studies at RCM.

Roles with ROH Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, ENO, WNO, Bayerische Staatsoper and Netherlands Opera include Fiordiligi Così fan tutte, Countess Le nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni, Desdemona Otello, Amelia Simon Boccanegra, Mimì La bohème, Eva Die Meistersinger, title roles Madama Butterfly, Katya Kabanova, Jenufa, Genevre Ariodante, Cleopatra Giulio Cesare, Jenifer The Midsummer Marriage, Tatiana Eugene Onegin. Recent highlights include Elisabetta Don Carlos (Amsterdam); Ellen Orford Peter Grimes (Salzburg); Countess Le nozze di Figaro (Bayerische Staatsoper Japan tour); title role Jenufa, winning Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera, 2007 (ENO).


Amanda has made concert appearances with leading orchestras and conductors throughout Europe and North America. Recent performances include her New York Philharmonic debut; Edinburgh International Festival; European tour with Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester; Ellen Orford Peter Grimes in concert (Berlin Philharmonic); Janácek's Osud at 2008 BBC Proms (BBC Symphony Orchestra).

Recital engagements include Wigmore Hall; Queen Elizabeth Hall; Concertgebouw Amsterdam; Musikverein, Vienna; New York's Lincoln Center; La Monnaie, Brussels; appearances in Munich, Frankfurt, Paris, Valencia, Lisbon.
Future roles include Jenufa, Ellen Orford (ENO); Jenufa (Teatro Real, Madrid); Capriccio (Opera North).
