David Soar: Lodovico

David Soar is a Welsh National Opera Associate Artist and a former member of the Chorus of Welsh National Opera. He is also a recipient of the Chriss Ball Bursary.

David studied organ and singing at Royal Academy of Music. After working as a freelance organist, singer and conductor, he joined WNO's Chorus. Other roles include Banquo Macbeth, Superintendent Budd Albert Herring, Zaccaria Nabucco, Ceprano Rigoletto, Baron Douphol La traviata (Opera Holland Park); Donner Das Rheingold (Lucerne Festival).

David studied at NOS supported by WNO, a Sybil Tutton Award, Kenneth Loveland Gift, Nicholas John Trust. David is a WNO Associate Artist and recipient of WNO Chris Ball Bursary.

Concert work includes Messiah, Creation, Elijah; Mozart and Brahms Requiem; Beethoven's 9th Symphony; Verdi's Requiem; Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, The Apostles; Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle; Stanford's Songs of the Fleet; Bach's B Minor Mass, St John Passion, Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew Passion; numerous cantatas including Ich habe genug.

Recent performances include Alvise Badoero La Gioconda (Opera Holland Park); Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (Bamberg Symphony Orchestra)

In Spring 2009 he will sing title role The Marriage of Figaro (WNO).
