WNO DISCOVERS RICH SEAM OF TALENT FOR SUMMER SEASON , (07/04/08)
Hundreds of people from across the Valleys of South Wales are uniting in song with WNO this summer to help celebrate their industrial heritage, ahead of the world premiere of Carbon 12 - A Choral Symphony at the Wales Millennium Centre in June.  Composer Errollyn Wallen and lyricist John Binias have traced the proud history of coal and the mining industry from its birth right through to its demise, exploring how the fossil fuel put South Wales firmly on the global industrial map.

New Blood needed for Vampire Band , (12/03/08)
For the first time in its 10-year history Welsh National Youth Opera is holding auditions to recruit a number of dynamic and talented young instrumentalists aged 16-25. The band will perform alongside WNYO company members in the World Premiere of The Calling of Maisy Day, in the Weston Studio at Wales Millennium Centre in July 2008.

Brothers Carlo and Marco Rizzi take to the stage for the first time in Wales for a concert with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera at St David's Hall, Cardiff, on Saturday 2 February (7.30pm).

WELSH NATIONAL OPERA - 2008/2009 , (07/01/08)

* Verdi's Otello opens WNO's new Autumn season. Renowned director Paul Curran makes his UK opera debut. The cast includes Verdi Medal winner Dennis O'Neill (Otello); Olivier award winner Amanda Roocroft (Desdemona) and David Kempster (Iago)

* Internationally acclaimed Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans makes her role debut as the Countess in Lluis Pasqual's new production of The Marriage of Figaro. David Soar, former member of WNO's Chorus and now Associate Artist, makes his title role debut and Cardiff-born soprano Rosemary Joshua makes her WNO debut as Susanna.

* Katie Mitchell returns to WNO to direct Janácek's Jenufa, a production widely regarded as a landmark in musical theatre. In Autumn 2007, Katie Mitchell directed WNO's world premiere of James MacMillan's The Sacrifice. Nuccia Focile sings the title role.

* Swedish-American soprano Erika Sunnegardh sings the title role in Richard Strauss's Salome. The conductor is Lothar Koenigs who conducted WNO's production of Khovanshchina in 2007.

* Sweetness and Badness, a new chamber opera by Will Todd, will tour the UK in Spring 2009. The director is Jonathan Munby, formerly of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the cast is drawn from WNO's Chorus.

S4C to Broadcast Welsh National Opera , (14/12/07)
S4C is to broadcast Welsh National Opera's revival of Falstaff, starring Bryn Terfel in the title role, as part of a three-year deal that sees the Channel air a total of four WNO productions.
