Claire Hampton
Claire Hampton was born in Staffordshire. Her training began in 1992 when she was offered a place at Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst at the college, Claire won both the Elsie Thurston Memorial Prize and the Alexander Young Prize. Her studies were then further extended to Postgraduate level with the generous support of the Peter Moores Foundation Scholarship. This also enabled her to attend intensive language and opera studies in Florence. Since graduating, Claire has performed extensively as a concert recitalist throughout the UK and appeared with Floral Opera in the roles of Dorinda Orlando and Susanna The Marriage of Figaro. She joined the Chorus of WNO in August 2002 where roles have included Plaintiff Trial by Jury for WNO’s Chorus Tour of Wales, Jana Jenůfa (a role that she recorded with WNO/Mackerras for Chandos in July 2003), Squire Parsifal, Echo Ariadne auf Naxos, Papagena The Magic Flute and Comtesse D’Aremberg Don Carlos.
