Michael Druiett studied at the Britten-Pears School, Aldeburgh, and the Royal College of Music. He attended the NOS in 1990 sponsored by ENO and was invited to join the company as a principal bass. Appearances with ENO included repertoire as varied as Monteverdi, Berg, Verdi, Janacek, Puccini, Verdi and Wagner.
He was a member of the Royal Opera Covent Garden between 1994 and 1997. Performances there included Sparafucille, Rigoletto, Count Horn, Un Ballo in Maschera, Cirillo Fedora, il Re Aida, Ashby La fanciulla del West, Timur Turandot, 2nd soldier Salome, and Pietro Simon Boccanegra, Bartolo Marriage of Figaro, Charles V Don Carlos and Nabucco.
Other engagements have included 1st workman Wozzeck (Theatre du Chatelet Paris); Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor (WNO), Bonze Madame Butterfly and the Grammy Award winning recording Sussannah (Opera de Lyon), Zaccaria Nabucco (New Israeli Opera), Charles V/Le Moine Don Carlos (La Monnaie Brussels); Prince Gremin Eugene Onegin (Bordeaux and Dublin) and Truffaldino Ariadne (Theatre du Capitole Toulouse). For the Opera National de Paris he has sung Barone Douphol/Dottore La Traviata, Swallow Peter Grimes, Charles V/Le Moine Don Carlos and Angelotti Tosca and for Opera National de Montpellier Hobson Peter Grimes and Tiresias Oedipus Rex.
In the UK he has appeared with Glyndebourne Festival Opera where he has sung Hobson Peter Grimes, Commendatore Don Giovanni, Supt. Budd Albert Herring, Lodovico Otello, Gremin Eugene Onegin, Priest/Armoured Man/ Speaker Die Zauberflote and Le Medicin Pelleas et Melisande; Ferrando Il Trovatore (Scottish Opera) and the world premiere of The Friend of the People; Eutifronte The Philosophers Stone (Garsington Opera).
Other concert appearances include Delius Apalacia (HallĂ© Orchestra and Richard Hickox), Mahler Symphony No. 8 (CBSO and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra), Elijah (BSO), Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem (also recorded for Radio 3) and Berlioz La Damnation de Faust (BBC Philharmonic); Berlioz L’enfance du Christ (Northern Sinfonia), La Damnation de Faust (Philharmonia), Christus St Matthew Passion (English Chamber Orchestra), FaurĂ© Requiem (Coventry) and Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle (Bath).
