The perfect antidote to the shorter autumn evenings...
The Barber of Seville is an eternally sunny comedy and the ultimate feel-good night at the theatre.
A fast and furious comedy is brought to life by Rossini’s life-affirming and instantly recognizable music. From the first note of the famous overture and the Largo al factotum ("Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!") to the very final note, Rossini’s music bubbles with the joy of life. Join the 100-strong world-class Chorus and Orchestra of Welsh National Opera and a powerful cast of soloists to be uplifted this Autumn by the thrill of live opera.
Welsh National Opera’s traditional production is a master-class in comic timing. A band of travelling players have set up their theatre in a town square and with sumptuous costumes and colourful backdrops they begin to tell their story to the villagers assembled in the square – and to us in the theatre.
The Barber of Seville is sung in English with an electronic surtitles screen above the stage carrying a translation in English (and Welsh in Wales) of everything that is being sung - so its easy to follow all the action! Check when booking your tickets that a view of the surtitles is available from the seats you chose.
