Herman is desperate to know the secret of the three cards. A secret which would mean he would never lose at the card table. but in discovering this secret herman risks losing everything he holds dear including the woman he loves and his own life.

Tchaikovsky tells this intense story of obsession and fate with some of his greatest music. As it builds to its shattering finale The Queen of Spades will hold you in its grasp.

Director Richard Jones brings this story to life with his unique vivid visual style. One of the most acclaimed productions of recent years, Welsh National Opera’s The Queen of Spades promises a thrilling, potent night at the theatre.

The Queen of Spades is sung in Russian with an electronic surtitles screen above the stage carrying a translation in English (and Welsh in Wales) of everything that is being sung - so its easy to follow all the action! Check when booking your tickets that a view of the surtitles is available from the seats you chose.
