Memorial Gifts

Would you like to remember someone special? If they loved opera then a Memorial Gift to Welsh National Opera could be just what you’re looking for to celebrate their life whilst supporting a cause they cared about.

By making a donation to WNO in memory of someone special, you will be making a positive and lasting tribute to your loved one. At the same time, you will be helping to ensure that WNO can continue producing the high-calibre opera and community work that brought your loved one so much enjoyment during their lifetime.

How will we use your gift?

You can choose to direct your gift towards any area of our work, allowing you to support us in a way that you feel would most reflect the interests of your loved one.

You could choose to support our main-scale staged productions. You could support our ensemble of world-class singers and musicians or you could also help support our award-winning community education and inclusion projects through WNO MAX. Alternatively, you could make it a gift for us to use for our general purposes, allowing us to direct it where it is most needed at the time.

Whichever way you choose to make your in memoriam donation, you can be assured you will be playing a vital role in ensuring WNO is able to continue producing the inspirational work that has made us such a special company to so many people.

How will we remember your loved one?

For all donations made in memory of a loved one we will include a commemoration to them in one of our production programmes for a season, and we will list them amongst our supporters across all of our programmes for a full year. Funeral Collections

If you are arranging a funeral, you may wish to ask for donations to be made to WNO in place of, or as well as, giving flowers.

There are a number of ways you can arrange to make a collection:

Collection envelopes for cash or cheque donations
We can help by offering you donation envelopes, each printed with clear instructions, for you to pass on to those who would like to donate. This is not only a very simple way to help you make a collection but will also allow WNO to benefit from Gift Aid as and where it is possible. Please contact Claire Heaney, Development Manager - Individual Giving to request envelopes.

Individual Cheques
Most funeral directors will be happy to facilitate charitable collections by accepting contributions made by cheque on your behalf. They will usually receive contributions on the day of the service as well as for a period of time (usually a couple of weeks to a month) before and after. Alternatively, cheque donations can be sent directly to us at the address below. In both cases, please ask all contributors to make cheques payable to Welsh National Opera Ltd and to write their name and address on the back of the form, along with the name of the person they are remembering (so we can send them a thank you letter in receipt of donation).

Collective Cheque
If you would prefer to make a collection yourself and send a single cheque for the total amount to us, please make cheque payable to Welsh National Opera Ltd and write your name and address on the back of you cheque. Please note we will not be able to write individual thank you letters if we do not have names and addresses of all contributors.

However you choose to donate, unless you request otherwise, we will ensure that a letter confirming your gift is sent to you and/or a nominated friend or family member, as soon as possible.
