Developing Supportive Relationships and Funding

WNO is a recognised world leader in opera and has a particular reputation for ‘uncovering' opera, both for the experienced and for the new opera-goer.  Nine operas are created and toured throughout Wales and England each year and this core programme of prize-winning work is further enhanced by a whole range of special projects that reach widely into the community and contribute resources to education and for the benefit of young people.

To achieve this level and range of activity WNO relies on the unique combination of public funding that it receives from the Arts Council of Wales and the Arts Council of England, in crucial partnership with the private sector – individual donors, patrons, business sponsors, trusts and foundations.  Taken on their own, both Arts Council grants are insufficient to support WNO but when brought together and combined with the contributions of the private sector, the result is a vibrant, developing Company offering exceptional value to audiences and communities in England and Wales.

The Development Department at WNO works to develop particular, supportive relationships and to maximise all the Company's potential to attract funding partnerships.  A special emphasis is placed on creativity, flexibility, collaborative working and value.

The range of sponsorship opportunities is varied and flexible.  We are happy to discuss options and budgets with you to ensure the partnership is as relevant and productive as possible.

Mainscale Opera Production Sponsorship, with UK tour:  Click on What's On & Where for details of current repertoire.

City and Season Sponsorship - association with the range of WNO's work in a city to which we regularly perform.  The work incorporates mainscale opera performances and a diverse WNO MAX programme.

Performance Sponsorship - sponsorship of an evening's performance.

The support we receive help make it possible to:

  • Stage new productions and revivals
  • Give opportunities to talented young artists
  • Commission new work
  • Develop audiences
  • Provide a flexible and wide ranging programme of activities and projects in parallel to our main performances through the work of WNO MAX
