Aled Powys Williams

Aled is a 23 year old Baritone and a native of the Amman Valley. He gained a BMus (Hons.) in Vocal Studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, where he studied with Tim Rhys-Evans. He has had varied successes in the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Urdd National Eisteddfod and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod as well as being a finalist in both the Vale of Glamorgan Singer of the Year Competition and the Welsh Young Musical Theatre Singer of the Year Competition. He has appeared as a guest artiste with many choral societies performing various works including Bach’s St John’s Passion, Fauré’s Requiem, Haydn’s Missa in Tempore Belli, Stanford’s Songs of the fleet, Stainer’s Crucifixion and Schubert’s Mass in G.

As well as his individual performances Aled is an avid member of ONLY MEN ALOUD!, Serendipity, The John.S.Davies Singers and The BBC National Chorus of Wales with whom he has won a scholarship. His operatic appearances have included the The Keeper – The Rake’s Progress (Welsh National Youth Opera), Dan Cairo - Carmen (Lyric Music Society) Baron de Gondermarck – La Vie Parisienne, Samuel – Pirates of Penzance, Papageno – The Magic Flute (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) and most recent, again with WNYO creating the role of Billy in the World Premiere of The Calling of Maisy Day. Alongside Surf Tailz Aled has been working on another MAX project called Bang! and also works as a singing teacher.
