The Tudors

Heads will roll

The Tudors are coming back to rule Britain once again. This autumn, Henry VIII, Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, Mary Stuart, Elizabeth I and the Earl of Essex will grace the stages of theatres across Wales and England.

The Tudors is a landmark event. It is the first time Donizetti’s ‘Three Queens’ operas will have been performed together in Britain. The Tudors combines all of the drama and intrigue of the best historical novels with some of the most sublime music in opera. Prepare for an audience with royalty you will never forget.

Plotting courtiers with hidden agendas. Future queens waiting in the wings. Kings for whom no is not an answer. Love shattered by the onwards march of history. It’s hard to imagine a better subject for the drama and spectacle of opera than The Tudors.

In these three operas, Donizetti re-tells some of the most thrilling episodes in British history through glorious music, with a surprise twists along the way. You will find yourself gripped by the predicaments and intrigues of the Tudor court. You will also find yourself captivated as you hear some of the most scintillating and breathtaking music ever to be written for the voice. These operas are every bit as beautiful and moving as the popular hits of Puccini and Verdi.

Each opera is a complete experience and can be enjoyed on its own. By experiencing all three on consecutive evenings you have an opportunity to lose yourself in potent drama and beautiful music. The Tudors will be performed by our world-class Chorus and Orchestra joined by an exceptional cast on a single epic set in costumes which evoke the period with a modern twist. A programme of events complements the evening performances to complete this operatic adventure. Book for more than one opera and you can make great savings. Please note that bookings of two operas or more cannot be booked online. Call your local venue or book by post or in person.
