Patrick Jones was born in Tredegar, 1965. He was educated at Swansea University and the University of Tennessee.
He was a member of the Open Mic Poets in Chicago. Patrick has a great deal of experience writing within and for the community, having worked as a creative writer with the mentally ill and recovering drug addicts, as well as with the highly successful Write for Cynon scheme. He has worked with various community based projects with NCH, St. David’s Foundation Hospice Care and The Dyn Project and The Prison Service.
Patrick has worked closely with the Manic Street Preachers, directing short films and videos for them and the band Lethargy; his The Guerilla Tapestry (revpress, 1995) was accompanied by a musical soundtrack composed by James Dean Bradfield. Guerilla Tapestry was performed live at the opening of the Welsh Assembly, where he was also invited to share poetry from his book Darkness Is Where The Stars Are.
Additional work includes the poetry collections Fuse, the CD of spoken word and music Commemoration and Amnesia and the plays Everything Must Go, Unprotected Sex, The War is Dead long live the war and Sing to Me.
Patrick was listed in Wales’ top 100 heroes as ‘the most innovative poet and playwright’.
