The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart)
Conductor : Michael Hofstetter
Director : Lluis Pasqual
Designer : Paco Azorin

Sung in Italian with English

Approximate duration 3 hours 25 minutes

Continuing the action from Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Figaro has been described as one the most perfect operas, containing some of Mozart's best-loved music.

David Soar, previously a member of WNO's Chorus and now a WNO Associate Artist, will make his title role debut as Figaro in this new production. Rebecca Evans returns to WNO in her role debut as the Countess and Rosemary Joshua makes her longawaited debut with WNO as Susanna.

Figaro is about to marry Susanna. Count Almaviva, his employer, also has designs on Susanna. The Countess (Rosina from The Barber of Seville) is suspected of an affair - but is actually faithful to her husband. Figaro is also being pursued by Marcellina - who with the aid of Dr Bartolo is trying to force Figaro to marry her! After much confusion, disguise, mistaken identity and secret liaison, everyone retires happy.
