Scheherazade conjures a world of heroes and shipwrecks, of wild Eastern carnivals and the adventures of princes. Based on the stories of 1001 Nights, Rimsky-Korsakov filled Scheherazade with some of his most memorable themes, clothed in dazzling orchestral colours. Equally dazzling is Prokofiev's ballet music, Chout and Saint-Seans' Second Piano Concerto, full of effervescent energy and played by one of the greatest living exponents of French piano music, Jean-Philippe Collard.
