Another take on performance
When TSO Consulting were looking for an interactive after-dinner experience to complement the executive development work they were doing with a team from Department for Transport, they called Welsh National Opera. Their brief was to shift the team out of their corporate culture for a short while and enable them to experience what high performance looks like in another environment.
Creating a fantastic performance in the world of music and highlighting parallels with the participants’ roles at the DfT was the perfect solution. We created an interactive workshop that was entertaining and educational, to energise participants and illustrate how to give a great performance.
Drawing on her expertise as a singer with Welsh National Opera and freelance Musical Director, workshop facilitator Kate Woolveridge gave an insight in to the life of a performer and demonstrated the mindset and physical attributes that are needed to give a world class performance every time.
The experiential process highlighted the need to prepare and rehearse, the importance of conscious attention to performance, how to handle feedback and the importance of self-belief. It was also an opportunity for the participants to work together as a team and collectively create a performance - whilst taking away valuable lessons and ideas they could implement. Individuals were able to make the connection with their own performance, and reflect upon improvements they and the team could make.
"This approach really helped people think about performance in a very different way - and it was fun. Kate was terrific, got everyone fully engaged, and she got a performance out of the client team. This aspect of our development work will certainly stick with them because it was made available, so easily accessible, and in a relaxed and fun way via such a creative source."
