Engaging Employees
At Welsh National Opera we know how to connect with and wow our audiences. That’s why the leadership team at British Gas in Cardiff asked us to share our expertise and enhance their presentation skills in time for their quarterly update presentation. The team wanted to improve their communication and gain a higher level of engagement from employees. To help them achieve this, we designed a three-stage process.
Firstly we reviewed their presentation, to identify the main messages and key moments. Then we ran a bespoke workshop with the team to develop their skills and begin to change their performance. Working with Opera Director Nik Ashton, they learnt techniques to enhance their posture, use their voice to best effect, and bring important messages to life.
During the workshop the leadership team explored vocal and physical presentation skills and had the opportunity to try things out so they could instantly see what impact a change in behaviour can have. Immediately after this session, they reviewed their individual parts of the presentation to apply what they had learnt so they could engage their audience more effectively.
The final step was rehearse the quarterly update in a safe environment. The team were coached by Nik to develop their performance and present with impact. This helped to ensure the main messages of the Quarterly Update were conveyed and the leadership team delivered a more memorable performance.
"WNO really helped us to focus as a team on how to truly present with impact to our large teams. The practical tips were useful and useable and we all benefited from applying them. We also had some fun along the way which made our learning more memorable!"
