Clive Bayley

Clive Bayley made his debut with Royal Opera, Covent Garden, in the world première of Harrison Birtwistle's Gawain and has since appeared as Colline La bohème, Hans Foltz Die Meistersinger, Castro La fanciulla del West, Carbon Cyrano de Bergerac, Thoas Iphigénie en Tauride, Sylvano La Calisto, Hunding Die Walküre.

Other engagements include Verdi's Jerusalem, Sparafucile Rigoletto, Ebn Hakia Iolanta, Grand Inquisitor Don Carlos, Raleigh Gloriana, Referee Playing Away, Ferrando Il trovatore, Arkel Pelléas and Mélisande, Wurm Luisa Miller, title role Le nozze di Figaro, Doctor Wozzeck, Biterolf Tannhäuser, Antinous Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Opera North); Don Giovanni (Opera Factory); Rusalka (Grange Park Opera); Billy Budd, Wozzeck, Cadmus Semele, Arkel, Four Villains Les contes d’Hoffmann, Ferrando, Collatinus The Rape of Lucretia, Pistol Falstaff, Hunding, Sparafucile, War & Peace, Snug A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Narbal The Trojans, Sarastro The Magic Flute, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor (ENO); Doctor, Antinous/Time/Neptune The Return of Ulysses (WNO); Calchas Iphigénie en Aulide, Louis VII Euryanthe (Glyndebourne Festival); Rocco Fidelio (Glyndebourne Touring Opera).

Clive also has a busy career worldwide including appearances in Geneva, Amsterdam, Seattle, San Francisco, Bregenz Festival, Lisbon, Lausanne, Toulouse, Munich and Copenhagen. Engagements during 2009/10 include Bluebeard Bluebeard’s Castle, Raimondo (ENO); Claggart Billy Budd (Frankfurt); Father Trulove The Rake’s Progress (Glyndebourne Festival).
