Alun Rhys-Jenkins

Tenor

Alun was born in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.  Having taught music in secondary schools for eight years, he joined WNO Chorus in 2005. In 2008 he studied with Dennis O’Neill at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice and subsequently pursued a freelance career, specialising in tenor character roles in opera. Roles include Goro Madama Butterfly (Glyndebourne & ENO); Remendado Carmen (ENO and WNO); Fourth Jew Salome (ENO, WNO and BSO); Don Curzio & Basilio/Marriage of Figaro (ENO, Garsington & Scottish Opera); Valzacchi & Faninal’s Major-Domo Der Rosenkavalier (Glyndebourne); Trabucco La Forza Del Destino (WNO); Witch Hansel and Gretel, Bardolfo Falstaff (Iford). Concert performances include BBC Proms with the LSO, L’Auditori Barcelona with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Spoletta Tosca, Beadle Sweeney Todd and Carmina Burana. He proudly re-joined WNO Chorus in 2018.
