Daniele Rustioni was awarded Best Newcomer of the Year at the International Opera Awards, 2013. He has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana since 2011, and, since 2013, Music Director of the Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari. He made his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2011, where he will return in the 2013/2014 season. In October 2012 he made his debut at Teatro alla Scala, returning to celebrate Verdi’s anniversary with a new production of Un ballo in maschera. Daniele studied in Milan under Gilberto Serembe and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana under Gianluigi Gelmetti. Daniele Rustioni conducts at Teatro Regio Torino, La Fenice in Venice, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Italy; at Opera North and WNO in the UK. He made his US debut at the Glimmerglass Festival, returning to America in March 2013 to conduct at Washington National Opera. Future engagements include debuts at Opéra National de Lyon and Bayerische Staatsoper.
