Elizabeth Watts won the 2006 Kathleen Ferrier Award and the 2007 Rosenblatt Recital Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Opera plans include Countess The Marriage of Figaro (Welsh National Opera); Marzelline Fidelio (Theater an der Wien with Marc Minkowski for the 2016 Wiener Festwochen); Josephine HMS Pinafore (Scottish Opera under Richard Egarr at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival); Minerva Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (Academy of Ancient Music); and Handel’s Hercules on a European tour with Harry Bicket and The English Concert. Recent roles include Zerlina and Marzelline (Royal Opera House) and Almirena Rinaldo (Glyndebourne Tour.) Elizabeth sings in concert with the leading modern and period orchestras and conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Olari Elts, Mark Elder, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Richard Egarr, Harry Bicket and Sakari Oramo in works including Mahler’s Second and Fourth symphonies, Vaughan Williams Symphony No 3, Brahms and Mozart Requiems, Bach Passions and Haydn’s Creation. As recitalist, Elizabeth appears at venues including the Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and Oxford Lieder Festival with pianists Simon Lepper, Roger Vignoles and Julius Drake. Recordings include Bach St Matthew Passion with AAM and Richard Egarr; Schubert Lieder (Sony), Bach Cantatas (Harmonia Mundi) and Strauss Lieder with Roger Vignoles (Hyperion).
